The researchers from the University of San Diego (USA) followed for a year, 245 women, 22 to 72, overweight or obese. Participants followed three different diets, one rich in nuts. The scientists conducted their observations six months after the start of the study.

The findings of this study showed that women have lost as much weight regardless of diet (8% of their initial mass). The scientists also found that nut consumption helped to reduce bad cholesterol and increase good. However, nuts are high in calories, they should be consumed in moderation to avoid weight gain.
