A latest research by Harvard University on cardiac health has found about the relevance of heart diseases with certain blood groups. The research shows that those having Blood Group A and B have a much more chance of getting heart diseases. While comparing blood type O with blood type AB, the researchers declared that AB people are more likely to get cardiac ailments than people having other blood groups.

According to Lu Qi, a researcher at Harvard School of Public Health, people may well not be able to change blood groups, but the inferences gathered from these researches enable physicists to understand and advise their patients who are more vulnerable to heart disease about. A person who knows about his blood group and its relevance with chronic heart diseases is well prepared and will take preventive diet and other medications, so that the chances of getting that disease becomes as low as possible.

A healthier life style is something that is most advisable for these specific blood group people. No smoking, balance diet with low fat and cholesterol and regular exercises makes him less vulnerable to cardiac diseases. These findings are published in ‘Arteriosclerosis’, and this research involved 32,073 women and 27,482 adults Health Professionals.

The study spans over 20 years, and it involved around 90,000 men and women in multiple observational health studies. Although the research involved study comparison and relationship among blood groups and heart disease, patients and incidences but it did not dig deep into cellular and biological mechanisms and complex areas of genetics and medical sciences. Age, diet, drinking and drugs, and family history of cardiac diseases were the main elements of this advance medical research on factors facilitating heart diseases while being relevant with a blood group type.

The probability of getting heart disease is 5%, 10% and 25% for type A, type B and blood group AB respectively. Blood group O has elements that reduces blood clotting and assists blood flow in arteries while AB type came out to possess inflammation properties that are most damaging to arteries.

It is expected that this Harvard study will definitely pave the way for further cures and treatments for heart patients. The preventions that people having certain blood group types can adopt now in order to reduce the risk of cardiovascular diseases is itself a breakthrough and it will surely makes things a little better for these people.
