Holiday – A Soldier is Never off Duty Review

Bollywood seems to be thriving from the remakes of the movies of south industry which is why there is no stopping this trend. The latest film that is about to join the endless arrays of south remakes is the movie ‘Holiday – a Soldier is Never off Duty’ which is a remake of the Tamil movie ‘Thuppakki’. The film has Akshay Kumar and Sonakshi Sinha in the lead roles while Govinda plays a supporting role.

The film revels around the officer of the Indian army who is posted in Kashmir and comes home on his holidays where his family gets him to meet a girl for whom he eventually falls as is the normal story of any Bollywood story. The story progresses with the officer witnessing a bomb in a bus which leads him to capture the guy even when he is off duty and then exposing a large military group that poses a threat to the Indians.

The story is nothing new. Many such films have been made wherein the hero gets to save his country from a terrorist and also gets to fall in love with a beautiful traditional girl who helps him in his endeavors. Akshay Kumar would be seen in his usual action filled avatar while Sonakshi Sinha might be doing nothing for the umpteenth time as she continues to play the girl who has no other role but to fall in love with a guy who does all the work.

The film which is directed by AR Murugadoss is also being remade in Bengal. The film witnessed quite appreciation from the critics for the Tamil version. Whether the same will be the fate of the Hindi version remains to be seen. Akshay Kumar would be comfortable in his shoes as playing an action hero is his forte while Sonakshi would play the perfect girl for him. Their chemistry is the crux as has been seen from, the previous movies made by them. The film is set to be released on June 2014 and is promised to be a refreshing change.
